(The Post News)- Kaizer Chiefs have officially ended their interest in Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwana following the resolution of his contract dispute with Tunisia’s Esperance. Mokwana, who joined Esperance just three months ago, faced uncertainty when a breach of contract by the club surfaced.
However, Esperance addressed the issue, ensuring the player will remain committed to his three-year deal. According to Mokwana’s lawyer, Kabelo Mashigo, the matter has been settled, and the winger will return to Tunisia after national duty.
With Mokwana off the table, the Chiefs are focusing on alternative transfer targets. The club has been linked to players like Asanele Velebayi and veteran Bongani Zungu. Zungu, currently a free agent, could join the Chiefs, but this depends on the team making room in their squad by loaning out players like Sibongiseni Mthethwa or Samkelo Zwane. Chiefs’ management remains active in reshaping their team amidst recent challenges in securing top talent.
As Mokwana looks to help Esperance climb the Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1 table, Chiefs fans will hope their management finds solutions to bolster the squad for the ongoing season.
