Returning Prroteas captain, Temba Bavuma.
(The Post News)- Temba Bavuma will return to captain the Proteas in their two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, marking the team’s focus on climbing the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) rankings.
Bavuma, who missed the recent ODI World Cup, will lead a 16-man squad filled with familiar names and a few changes. With a win required to stay competitive in the WTC standings, the Proteas aim to maintain their unbeaten Test record against Sri Lanka at home. The squad sees the return of quick bowlers Gerald Coetzee and Lizaad Williams, with Keshav Maharaj and Simon Harmer offering spin options, while promising batter Matthew Breetzke will also join the team after a strong domestic season.
The first test will take place at SuperSport Park in Centurion starting December 26, followed by the second match at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. As the team looks to build momentum, fans will hope Bavuma’s leadership sparks success in this crucial series. The Proteas remain unbeaten against Sri Lanka in home Test series, a record they’ll fight to uphold.
