(The Post News)- “Nuclear Danger” is the phrase that mass panicked half of the world. On November 21, 2024, Russia allegedly launched an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) over the Ukrainian city of Dnipro.
For the audience that isn’t aware of what an ICBM is, we would like to offer a clear and concise view of this missile: The ICBM is a long-range missile with the capacity to travel at the astonishing speed of 24,000 to 28,000 Km/H (maximum velocity) this indicates that it could typically strike targets between 10,000 to 12,000 Km within 30 to 40 minutes depending on location and targets, too.
The military arsenal uses the ICBMs to deliver nuclear warheads over the chosen areas. If multiple parties and officials will confirm the alleged attack using ICBMs, this would project the escalation between Russia and Ukraine even further, as the involvement of nuclear warheads would implicate other countries or allies.
Currently, there are two conflicting reports regarding this situation. The first was one of Ukarine’s Air Force claiming the attack on Dnipro started from the Astrakhan region in Russia and involved nine missiles of which a few of them were intercepted by the Ukraine defence. However, the second report comes from Western and U.S. officials stating that the missiles used were intermediate-range ballistic missiles (IRBM) thus, infirming the report stated by the Ukrainian Air Forces.
Despite both statements, the report conflict remains under investigation as this type of attack is unprecedented in the war between Russia and Ukraine. Furthermore, the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, newly revised the nuclear policies which caused multiple parties to raise questions and concerns.
