(The Post News)- The five suspects arrested in connection with the murder of rapper AKA and his friend Tebello “Tibz” appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Friday, November 29, 2024. The suspects are facing charges related to the murder of AKA, who was gunned down outside a restaurant in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, in February last year.
The court had granted a final postponement in August to allow the police to conduct further investigations. During the proceedings, state prosecutor Lawrence Ggeba mentioned that more arrests might follow, depending on the outcome of the investigation into a payment of R800,000 made to one of the suspects, who allegedly played a key role in the murders.
Two of the suspects, who were arrested in Eswatini, are appealing their extradition order, which was granted by the court to return them to South Africa. The commissioner of police in KwaZulu-Natal, Nhlahla Mkwanazi, recently stated that more arrests are expected.
The two brothers among the suspects have been charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and attempted murder. The case is ongoing, with the next court appearance scheduled for a later date.
