(The Post News)- Sead Ramovic’s Young Africans secured a 3-2 victory over Mashujaa on Thursday, marking their second consecutive win in the Tanzanian Premier League. Former SuperSport United striker Prince Dube scored a hat-trick, leading his team to success.
Dube gave Young Africans the lead in the eighth minute and doubled the score in the 22nd minute. After the visitors scored in stoppage time, Dube completed his hat-trick eight minutes into the second half. Defender Idrisa Stambuli scored a consolation goal in the 62nd minute, giving the team a nervous finish.
Dube, also known as Mgadafi, gained attention from Matsatsantsa in 2017 with his outstanding performances at the COSAFA Cup and CHAN qualifications. He went on to win the 2017/18 MTN8 title despite playing limited minutes and spending time on loan at Black Leopards.
With 30 points, Young Africans now occupy third place, trailing behind league leaders Azam FC and bitter rivals Simba SC, who defeated Ken Gold 2-0 on Wednesday to accumulate 31 points. Azam still holds the top spot with 33 points, despite having played three fewer games than the two Dar es Salaam powerhouses.
The former TS Galaxy coach will be eager to translate their league performance to the CAF Champions League, where they have struggled to establish themselves. In Africa’s top club league, Young Africans have yet to secure a win, losing their first two games to Al Hilal Omdurman and MC Alger before securing a last-minute draw against TP Mazembe, thanks to Dube’s goal.
