(The Post News)– Owen da Gama, the former coach of Orlando Pirates, has been appointed as the head coach for Magesi FC following Clinton Larsen’s resignation after the team’s 3-0 loss to All Stars in the Carling Cup last weekend.
Since their thrilling triumph over Mamelodi Sundowns in the Carling Knockout Cup final, Magesi has suffered four straight losses, with just six points from nine games. Magesi is now at the bottom of the league table and is in dire need of a turnaround.
Papi Zothwane was first named as the interim coach when Larsen left; however, the club has now found a new head coach who has greater experience. With coaching experience at Platinum Stars, Highlands Park, TS Galaxy, and Black Leopards, Da Gama will take over the team right away. He will collaborate with the current coaching team, which includes goalkeeper coach Fiston Kabwanga and fitness trainer Pedro Picarro, both of whom Larsen hired.
On Sunday at 15:30, Da Gama’s debut game as manager will be a tough match-up against his old team, the Orlando Pirates, at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
