(The Post News)– On Thursday, Inter Milan defeated Atalanta 2-0 thanks to two goals from Denzel Dumfries in Riyadh to secure a spot for his team in the final of the Italian Super Cup.
Four minutes into the second half, the Netherlands international scored a stunning close-range goal to put the defending Serie A champions ahead of this season’s league leaders. Dumfries sealed Inter’s place in the January 6 final against either Juventus or AC Milan with a blazing strike from the edge of the box on the hour, his second of the game.
In Saudi Arabia, which is hosting the Super Cup for the third consecutive year, Juventus, the winners of the Italian Cup the previous season, will take on Milan on Friday in the second semifinal of the four-team competition. Paulo Fonseca was replaced by Sergio Conceicao earlier this week, and Conceicao will coach Milan for the first time.
