(The Post News)- At the 82nd Golden Globe Awards, Hollywood veteran Demi Moore won her first-ever solo acting award – Best Actress in a Motion Picture: Musical or Comedy.
This achievement was to celebrate her exceptional role in The Substance and marks a milestone for Demi Moore, who has spent over four decades in the industry.
In her acceptance speech Demi said: “I’m just in shock right now. I’ve been doing this for a long time, over 45 years now, and this is the first time I’ve won anything as an actor.”
Receiving her first Golden Globe at age 62, Demi expressed the humbleness and gratitude the award has granted her.
She elaborated that the script for “The Substance” came to her while she was in “this low point” of her life.
“One thing that I think this movie is imparting is in those moments when we don’t think we’re smart enough or pretty enough or skinny enough or successful enough or basically just not enough.”
Known for her iconic roles in the ‘90s, her acting career began in the 80s. As an actress has faced both public admiration and harsh criticism with producers calling her a “popcorn actress”.
For years, Moore battled against the notion that her commercial success did not translate into approval and praise from critics.
Scooping her first solo Golden Globe proved her individual talent contributions immensely to the success of the film projects she is casted in.
After beginning the awards season victoriously, the Hollywood legendary actress is now leading the race towards the Oscars.
