(The Post News)– Chelsea shook off a slow start to eventually breeze past Morecambe with a 5-0 win in the FA Cup third round. Morecambe, currently near the bottom of League Two, put up a strong fight early on, making Chelsea work hard for their breakthrough.
The standout performer was Tosin Adarabioyo, who opened the scoring with a deflected strike just before half-time and then doubled his tally with a powerful long-range effort in the second half. His goals, both from outside the box, showcased his initiative when Chelsea needed it most.
Christopher Nkunku, who had missed a penalty earlier in the game, made it 2-0 by tapping in a rebound. João Félix, given a rare start, grabbed two well-taken goals to complete the rout, one of which was a beautiful curling shot from 25 yards.
Reece James and Romeo Lavia made their returns from injury, playing the first half without issues, which is a positive sign for Enzo Maresca’s side. Chelsea’s squad depth could be crucial as they look to push further in this competition.
