(The Post News)– The Dutch coach Erick ten Hag, who has been without a club since leaving Manchester United, is in the front-runners to succeed Nuri Sahin at Borussia Dortmund, together with Urs Fischer, Sandro Wagner, and Roger Schmidt.
Sahin’s departure was confirmed on Wednesday, and Borussia Dortmund is now searching for a new coach. Before the Turkish coach’s potential dismissal became a reality following another Champions League loss for the Germans, the German team had been monitoring the coaching market for a while.
According to recent reports in England, the Signal Iduna Park team has approached Hag, who appears to be the most qualified candidate for the German team; however, German media outlets have reported otherwise. Hag would undoubtedly fit in well with a squad that prioritizes aggressive play over all else, even with the negative impression he made at Manchester United.
Ten Hag is by no means the sole candidate for the esteemed position, with the current Champions League runners-up, Roger Schmidt, the former coach of Benfica, also vying for the position. However, Schmidt has stated that he would rather take over a team early in the season than after it has started. Meanwhile, former Union Berlin coach Urs Fischer and former player Sandro Wagner, who has served as Borussia Dortmund’s assistant coach since retiring, are also potential contenders.
Hag left the Red Devils with an overall record of 128 games, 70 wins, 23 draws, and 35 losses. Ten Hag was a superb coach at Ajax before joining Manchester United. The English squad had a 54.69% win rate, a 17.97% draw rate, and a 27.34% loss rate. Hag’s Manchester United scored 217 goals (1.7 goals per game) and gave up 165 goals (1.3 goals per game) in terms of scoring.
