(The Post News)– After losing to Arsenal last Sunday, Manchester City is still having trouble getting back on track. For the second time in his managerial career, Pep Guardiola gave up five goals in a single game.
Manchester City was shipwrecked on yet another day that will go down in Pep Guardiola’s record books. However, he remains flawless, though this season is particularly wearing on him as he is accustomed to sweeping, changing up his style, and getting his way all the time. In their 5-1 loss to Arsenal, the Sky Blues gave up five goals, which is nearly unprecedented in his career.
In his 17 years as a coach, this is the second occasion a Guardiola squad has given up a “Manita.” The first time was in September 2020 when Leicester City defeated the Sky Blues 5-2 at Etihad Stadium in a game that was not attended because of the epidemic. He has experienced it again four years later with Man City—which he never did with Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
Though Manchester City remained thoughtful, Thomas’ goal had some luck since Stones diverted his long-range attempt into his own net in the 62nd minute. Additionally, in the 76th minute, Kai Havertz added a fourth goal as part of a counterattack. By scoring a fifth goal in the 93rd minute, Nwaneri added salt to the Cityzens’ wounds. Guardiola’s team had not had another attempt on goal in the entire period since Haaland’s equaliser.
