Beyonce finally wins best album after 26 years.
But BeyoncĂ© was not the only winner of the night; Kendrick Lamar swept up five awards, including Song and Record of the Year, for his controversial track “Not Like Us.” The rapper, who is set to perform at next week’s Super Bowl halftime show, dedicated one of his awards to the city of Los Angeles.https://news.sky.com/story/amp/grammy-awards-2025-full-list-of-winners-13302180
It was a night of female empowerment, with women taking home many of the major awards. Sabrina Carpenter won Best Pop Vocal Album, while Doechii became only the third woman to win Best Rap Album. St. Vincent also took home three Grammys, including Best Alternative Music Album.
Charli XCX received three awards, including the most obscure one of the evening: Best Artwork. That may appear strange at first. The word “brat” is printed in a purposefully low-resolution Arial font on the album’s simple green square cover. However, it took five months to create the cover, and designer Brent David Freaney experimented with almost 500 different colours of green to create a gaudy, sickening look. In order to highlight the album’s conflicting themes of partying and self-doubt, Charli intended the artwork to be purposefully off-putting. She added that it was critical to question the norm that women should dress provocatively in order to promote their music.
The Best New Artist category was one of the most competitive of the night, but Chappell Roan came out on top, beating out Sabrina Carpenter and other rising stars. The ceremony, which was dedicated to fundraising for wildfire relief efforts in Los Angeles, featured stunning performances, impassioned speeches, and some truly unforgettable red carpet looks. From leather chaps to daring dresses, the fashion was on point all night long. It was a night to remember, and we can’t wait to see what next year’s Grammy Awards bring!
