(The Post News)– Get ready for the middleweight championship rematch that has fans buzzing. Dricus du Plessis and Sean Strickland will once again battle it out for the coveted title at UFC 312, happening on Sunday, 9 February 2025, at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia.
The first encounter between these two at UFC 297 left plenty of debate. Du Plessis (22-2) won by split decision, but many felt Strickland (29-6) had done enough to secure the win with his relentless pressure and damage. Regardless, ‘Stillknocks’ walked away with the belt, a controversial win that has set the stage for this highly anticipated rematch. Since then, du Plessis has defended the title, defeating Israel Adesanya in August 2024. Meanwhile, Strickland earned his shot at redemption with a split decision victory over Paulo Costa in June.
Jared Cannonier, who has a history with both fighters, weighed in on the upcoming fight. He believes Strickland is coming back with a renewed fire, pointing out that he inflicted more damage in their first encounter and could use that momentum to his advantage in the rematch. “If he catches Du Plessis off-balance, maybe rushing in, Sean can get it done,” said Cannonier.

Suarez, who has overcome numerous injuries, is determined to make her mark, backed by her mental strength and experience. “When the bright lights shine, so do I,” she said, showing no signs of fear heading into the octagon.
The rest of the main card features exciting matchups, including heavyweight action with Justin Tafa facing Tallison Texiera. Australian fighters Jimmy Crute and Jake Matthews will also be in action, taking on Rodolfo Bellato (light heavyweight) and Francisco Prado (welterweight), respectively.
