President Donald Trump’s to permanently wipe out the Palestinian population has received numerous rejections from Arab nations and world leaders.
(The Post News)– Arab nations have stated that they reject U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to “take over” Gaza, with emphasis that Gaza belongs to the people of the nation of Palestine.
On Tuesday, President Trump publicly proposed a U.S.-Gaza takeover, suggesting that the U.S. permanently take over Gaza and completely wipe the entire Palestinian population of the devastated coastal enclave.
While hosting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, Trump remarked that Israel’s bombardment on Hamas following the Oct. 7, 2023, terrorist attack had destroyed Gaza. He further suggested that all two million Palestinians be relocated to other Arab nations like Jordan and Egypt and said that the coastal enclave would be turned into the “Riviera of the Middle East.”
The proposal did not receive the warmest welcomes; instead, it received rejections, with the strongest rejection coming from Palestine. The president of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, stated that he strongly rejects the proposal while also saying that they refuse to let the rights of their people, who have suffered for decades, be violated against. Abbas described Trump’s proposal as a major “violation of international law” and said that rebuilding Palestine is necessary to bring about regional peace and stability.
Moreover, Abbas emphasised that the Gaza Strip, like the West Bank and Jerusalem, is an integral part of Palestinian” territory, while also saying that “legitimate Palestinian” rights are not negotiable. According to Abbas, only the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) is allowed to make decisions for the future of the Palestinian people.
Also rejecting Trump’s proposal, the Palestinian Hamas group described it as a “racist” plan that is sought to completely wipe out the Palestinian cause. Meanwhile, Egypt has also rejected it and urged that Gaza be swiftly reconstructed. Egypt also urged that the Palestinian Authority resume its duties so Palestinians will not have to leave their home.
Saudi Arabia, on the other hand, has also announced that it rejects any attempts to remove Palestinians from their home and reaffirmed its support for the nation of Palestine. Additionally, Saudi Arabia declared its position non-negotiable and also stated that there would be no established relations with Israel unless that goal was achieved.
Among the Arab nations rejecting Trump’s plan was Jordan, which saw it as a “declaration of war” on Arabs. According to Jordan’s former deputy prime minister, Mamdouh al-Abadi, Jordanian authorities should restore mandatory military duty amid mounting concerns that the two countries would go to war over the matter.
On the other hand, global reactions on the matter have also poured in, with most world leaders rejecting the proposal. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has advocated for the rebuilding of Palestine, stating that Palestinians should be allowed to rebuild and stay in their home.
Meanwhile, the Turkish foreign minister stated taking over the war-devastated Gaza Strip will not be accepted, and the German foreign minister, who reaffirmed that Gaza belongs to Palestinians, also said that the removal of Palestinians in Gaza is unacceptable as it goes against international law.
More world leaders have expressed their rejections of Trump’s proposal to permanently erase Palestinians in Gaza, with most leaders stressing the importance of allowing the people of Palestine to remain in their home and rebuild.
