(The Post News)- According to reports, Sir Dave Brailsford has revealed a bold strategy to assist Manchester United in winning the Premier League. Since United last won the Premier League in 2012–13, Sir Alex Ferguson’s penultimate season as manager, the team has had a miserable 12 years.
Although that victory was United’s 20th English league title, the team has struggled ever since. They are not what they used to be—finishing second at best and frequently missing out on Champions League qualification. The Times also claims Brailsford, Ineos’ head of sport, has revealed his ‘Mission 21’ plan. The plan centers on winning United’s 21st English League championship.
According to the article, the former head of British Cycling will work with technical director Jason Wilcox to get more involved in Old Trafford performances. This follows Dan Ashworth’s December dismissal as sporting director after only five months in the position.
Since Sir Jim Ratcliffe bought his 28% share in the United a little over a year ago. Brailsford has been a significant figure at the club. Furthermore, it appears that he will be crucial to changing United’s performance culture. According to the study, Brailsford and James Morton created a vision for United’s future that outlines their strategy for capturing that elusive 21st championship.
As the head of nutrition and physical performance at Team Sky, Morton collaborated with Brailsford. He is now a professor of exercise metabolism at Liverpool John Moores University. In addition to serving as the Premier League’s performance mentor, Morton was previously Liverpool’s performance nutritionist from 2010 to 2015.
According to the article, Ashworth’s departure was preceded by Brailsford and Morton presenting the Mission 21 plan to the club’s senior performance personnel late last year. Brailsford and Morton created a Mission 1 plan in addition to Mission 21. The plan centered on United’s women’s squad winning their first WSL championship.
Given that Ratcliffe has been criticized for allegedly showing little support for the women’s squad since joining the club, many United supporters will be happy to see Marc Skinner’s team finish second in the league.
The latest ambitions follow last year’s announcement of United CEO Omar Berrada’s ‘Project 150’ project. Project 150 aims to win the Premier League on the team’s 150th anniversary in 2028. Harry Marra, an expert in athletics, joined United as a consultant.
The 78-year-old American, a great Olympic sports coach, has been assigned to improve United’s fitness. His appearance may be a sign of things to come under Brailsford.
Brailsford and Ratcliffe have been closely associated since Ineos took over Team Sky in 2019. The 60-year-old serves as the Brit’s chief counsel across his athletic enterprise.
After losing to Crystal Palace 2-0 on Sunday, United dropped to 13th place in the Premier League, their fifth home loss in their last six games. When they play Leicester in the FA Cup fourth round on Friday, Ruben Amorim’s team will be back in action.
