(The Post News)- The whereabouts of Monnapule Saleng, one of Orlando Pirates’ players, has been the subject of inquiry from football enthusiasts and aficionados. This comes after a wage dispute with the Buccaneers, which has led to his absence from the team. Saleng’s problems are tied to pay. According to sources, Saleng’s monthly salary at the Buccaneers is approximately R70,000, whereas Deon Hotto, the club’s highest-paid player, earns R500,000.
The forward is renowned for his agility, pace, and passes. He gets along well with Relebohile Mofokeng, a midfielder and winger, who is also a youthful player at the club. The duo has been controlling the Pirates’ winger positions.
Sam Fikela posted on X, “Orlando Pirates need to give us information regarding Saleng before it’s too late. We know what kind of player he is and what he can produce on the field. Orlando Pirates must tell us something because we need him now. We still have the Nedbank Cup, Betway Premiership, and CAF Champions League.”
However, Pat Bafo posted, “Journalists are cowards; they are obsessed with banter and headlines. They know what is happening with Saleng, but they are scared to report about it.” He emphasized this with the hashtag #FreeSaleng.
The Orlando Pirates’ inaction over Saleng’s grievance is concerning. The majority of Orlando Pirates players compete for the badge with meager compensation. The club’s underpaying saga is amply demonstrated by Thembinkosi Lorch, whose contract is about to expire in six months. Most likely, Saleng will be heading to a different club.
