Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla’s apology to Floyd Shivambu marks a significant step towards healing the rift within the MK Party.
(The Post News)- MK Party member Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla has issued a heartfelt apology to the party’s Secretary-General, Floyd Shivambu, for a series of scathing insults she directed at him on social media platform X earlier this week. The 42-year-old’s apology comes after she was instructed by the party to apologize to Shivambu and party structures or face severe consequences, including the termination of her membership.
Zuma-Sambudla’s initial apology, however, did not specifically address Shivambu, citing her concerns about the party’s handling of certain issues, particularly by the Secretary-General.
Nevertheless, in her latest apology, she acknowledged that her posts violated the party’s Disciplinary Code of Conduct and sought forgiveness from the party, its supporters, Parliament, and the Southern Caucus of the Pan-African Parliament.
In a statement, Zuma-Sambudla expressed her remorse, saying, “I sincerely apologise for my recent public posts on X, which may have caused offence, division, and disruption within the uMkhonto weSizwe Party and beyond. It was never my intention to undermine the principles of unity, respect, and discipline that are the foundation of the movement.”
Zuma-Sambudla’s apology is a significant step towards healing the rift within the party. Her actions demonstrate a commitment to upholding the party’s values and principles, even in the face of disagreement.
The controversy began when Zuma-Sambudla took to social media to express her dissatisfaction with Shivambu’s leadership. Her tweets were seen as a direct attack on Shivambu, with some labeling her behavior as unbecoming of a party member.
The MK Party’s leadership swiftly condemned Zuma-Sambudla’s actions, instructing her to apologize to Shivambu and party structures. The party’s statement emphasized the importance of discipline and respect within the organization.
