Mthembu believes that participating in the TNL will be crucial for levelling the players’ skills and assessing non-regular players. “This platform allows us to evaluate all players, especially those who missed the Jamaica tour or haven’t played in the TNL before,” she said, noting the importance of ensuring all athletes are on the same level before the World Cup.
The Baby Proteas recently secured a clean sweep against Jamaica in the Sunshine Series, boosting their confidence ahead of the global competition. Mthembu praised the players’ boldness and self-belief, expressing optimism for their World Cup campaign.
As the squad gears up for the TNL, Mthembu is excited to see the fierce competition among the 25 players vying for a spot in the final 15. She believes this commitment will be key to finalising their main combinations.
