(The Post News)– As the Stormers gear up for a crucial stretch in the Vodacom URC, Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu is optimistic about making an impact once he returns from injury. Despite a narrow 30-23 defeat to the Lions at Ellis Park that saw the Stormers drop to 10th on the URC log, the team is still within reach of the top eight. With only seven matches left, they must secure crucial points on the road, starting with a North-South showdown against the Vodacom Bulls at Loftus Versfeld on 1 March.
Speaking at an SA Rugby sponsors launch in Johannesburg, Feinberg-Mngomezulu expressed confidence in his team, dismissing any sense of panic. He explained that although he’s eager to contribute, he trusts his teammates to perform well and help the Stormers achieve their goal of finishing in the top eight.
Having faced a string of injuries this season—including a concussion, hip pointer, and collarbone issue—the 22-year-old playmaker admitted it’s been frustrating to watch from the sidelines. Reflecting on his injury struggles, he light-heartedly recalled watching Asenathi Ntlabakanye’s aggressive tackles during the Lions-Stormers clash, which reminded him of the hard-hitting encounter that contributed to his injury woes.
Feinberg-Mngomezulu is working hard on his recovery, staying vague about his return date but emphasising his commitment to getting back on the field as soon as possible. He’s also gearing up for the Springbok alignment camp in March, focused on improving his game and making a positive impact both on and off the field. With the Stormers needing vital wins to secure a playoff spot, Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s return could be just the boost they need.
