Manchester City's midfielder has returned to solo training
(The Post News)- After suffering a severe knee injury in September 2024, Rodrigo Hernández Cascante, commonly known as Rodri, a midfielder for Manchester City and Ballon d’Or winner, has resumed training. Rodri ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament during City’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal in September and was expected to miss the remainder of the season.
The 28-year-old’s absence has been a significant factor in Manchester City’s poor performance this season. The English champions have been eliminated from the League Cup and the Champions League and currently trail Premier League leaders Liverpool by 20 points.
Manager Pep Guardiola has been cautious about providing a return date for Rodri. Earlier this month, Guardiola stated, “The most important thing for him is to recover well. He is not a teenager, but he still has years to play, and it will happen if he recovers well.”
However, a video posted by City on Friday showing Rodri participating in a solo session at the club’s Etihad Campus suggests that the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner might return sooner than anticipated. Initially, Rodri had hoped to recover in time for the June 14 start of the Club World Cup in the United States.
