(The Post News)- Kaizer Chiefs striker Ashley du Preez is determined to turn goal-scoring into a regular occurrence as he leads the line against Cape Town City in their Betway Premiership clash at FNB Stadium on Wednesday (7:30 PM kick-off).
The 27-year-old recently prolonged his contract with Naturena until 2027, obtaining a two-year extension. With Amakhosi struggling for consistency in front of goal and dealing with injury setbacks, Du Preez’s contributions will be crucial in their bid for a strong finish to the season.
After recovering from a shoulder injury, Du Preez has made an immediate impact. He scored the winning goal in Chiefs’ 1-0 win against Magesi FC and also contributed to a 3-1 Nedbank Cup triumph over Stellenbosch. A third consecutive win against City would be a significant confidence boost.
Having faced Cape Town City numerous times in his career, Du Preez is eager for the challenge. He believes his familiarity with Cape-based teams gives him extra motivation. With four goals already this season, he is pushing to surpass the 20-goal mark, a personal target he has set for himself.
Chiefs will be up against a City side struggling for form, having last won nearly two months ago. However, they did claim a 1-0 victory over Chiefs in January, and Du Preez knows his team must be at their best to secure maximum points.
