(The Post News)– A horrific incident occurred at a student’s residence in Phaphadi village, Limpopo, where young women were attacked and sexually assaulted.
According to the police, two arrests have been made following an investigation. The Limpopo Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, said armed intruders held eight young women at gunpoint, then forced four of them into a passage and raped them before robbing them of their phones.
Hadebe applauded police for their “swift operation” that led to the arrest of two men aged 18 and 24 in connection to the crime. She added that the arrests were made after a cellphone trace led them to a suspect in Bellview village. Hadebe said that the phone was found in the suspect’s possession, and he failed to explain how he got it. She also told reporters that further investigations led officers to a second suspect’s house, where multiple stolen cellphones and bank cards belonging to one of the victims were discovered.
According to Hadebe, both suspects are in police custody and are expected to appear in court. The suspects are facing charges of rape, robbery, and possession of stolen property.
Meanwhile, the police are calling on anyone who may have lost or had their phones stolen in the Bolobedu area to come forward and assist in identifying recovered items.ence
