Motsepe, whose family trust owns Mamelodi Sundowns, first took the reins in 2021 with strong backing from FIFA president Gianni Infantino. His second four-year term sees him remain at the helm of African football’s governing body.
Meanwhile, Cameroonian football legend Samuel Eto’o secured a spot on the CAF executive committee as a representative for central Africa. The Cameroon Football Federation president was elected unopposed just days after winning an appeal that allowed him to stand for the position.
Eto’o had initially been disqualified by CAF’s governance committee in January, but the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled in his favour. His appointment follows a turbulent period, having faced bans from both FIFA and CAF last year over disciplinary and ethical breaches. However, the bans and financial penalties were later overturned on appeal.
Five others were also elected unopposed, including Liberia’s Mustapha Ishola Raji, who retains his seat, while Bestine Kazadi Ditabala (DR Congo), Wallace Karia (Tanzania), Kurt Simeon-Okraku (Ghana), and Sadi Walid (Algeria) join the committee.
