(The Post News)– Over 590 Palestinians have been killed in attacks launched by Israel in efforts to force Hamas to release the remaining hostages.
Meanwhile, Gaza’s Government Media Office updated its death toll to over 61,700, claiming that thousands of Palestinians still missing under the rubble are presumed dead. According to reports, at least 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led attack on October 7, 2023, and more than 200 Israelis were taken hostage.
The analysis done by Amjad Abu El Ezz of the Arab American University in Ramallah shows that Israel wants to “get rid of the Palestinians”. El Ezz said that Israel has not formally declared war on the occupied West Bank, but it has constantly increased military attacks against the populations of Palestinian towns, villages and refugee camps since the October 7 attacks by Hamas.
He further alleged that senior Israeli government officials have stated that Israel will wash away Palestinians. El Ezz believes that the dream of the far-right ministers in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government is to solve the West Bank problem by simply getting rid of the Palestinians, mostly in the refugee camps. According to El Ezz, there are over 20 refugee camps, occupied by half a million Palestinians.
Israel’s military, on the other hand, has reported that a ground invasion of southern Gaza’s Rafah is underway, and troops are pushing into the north near the town of Beit Lahia and central areas.
