(The Post News)- President Trump has threatened the EU and Canada with significant tariffs if they join forces to harm the US economy. This warning follows his controversial 25% tariff on imported autos.
Trump recently warned the European Union and Canada that if they collaborate to harm the US economy, they will face large-scale tariffs. According to Trump, these tariffs will be “far larger” than what is currently planned. He made this statement on his Truth Social platform, framing the US as the “best friend” of both the EU and Canada.
Trump’s warning follows his plan to impose a 25% tariff on hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of imported cars and auto parts, affecting key trading partners like Mexico, Canada, South Korea, Japan, and Germany. Trump hailed the tariffs as “Liberation Day in America,” claiming they will help the US reclaim lost revenue, despite warnings that they will drive up vehicle prices.
The impending tariffs, set to take effect on April 3, put the European car industry at risk and represent a major intensification of Trump’s trade war. Experts caution that the consequences could be severe for the global economy.
