(The Post News)– Four suspects were shot dead during a shootout with the KwaZulu-Natal police on the M4 near the N2 bridge, in Durban South.
According to Netshiunda, the police got information on the whereabouts of the suspects and when they arrived at the locatio—in a mall at Umlazi—the alleged suspects attempted to get away but the police cought up on them. Netshiunda said that when the suspects started firing shots toward the police, the police retaliated. Netshiunda added that the suspects believed to be from Inanda were found in possession of three firearms.
Meanwhile ALS Paramedics asserted that the incident occurred on Tuesday just after 6pm, adding that upon arrival on the scene, the SAPS was in attendance and the road was closed off. Paramedics were shown to a vehicle where four men were found having sustained multiple gunshot wounds to their bodies. They then assessed the men; however, all of them had suffered fatal injuries and were declared deceased on the scene. Netshiunda said no police officer sustained any injuries during the the shoot out.
RUSA stated that the family arrived shortly thereafter and confirmed that the police was pronounced deceased upon arrival at a medical facility. Multiple expended bullets were discovered at the scene, and one suspect was injured in the arm and detained by police at a nearby clinic.
