(The Post News)– Michelle Obama, the former First Lady of the United States of America, has shut down divorce allegations and addressed her absence from political gatherings.
Obama added that in some instances she used her children as an “excuse” for not being able to do something, even though she allowed them to live their lives. She further emphasised that she is now focused on herself, noting that she now schedules her calendar according to what is “best” for her and not what she needs to get done or what others expect from her.
Notable among the political events Obama has missed was her absence during the state funeral of former President Jimmy Carter and the inauguration of President Donald Trump in January. She admitted that she felt guilty for stepping awa from some responsibilities, which raised the divorce allegation. According to Obama, women struggle with letting people down—to an extent that they could not comprehend that she decided to be absent from events for herself, but assumed that she and her husband were getting a divorce.
Regardless of cutting out more time for herself, Obama stated that she still makes time for what matters, such as deelivering speeches, being out there in the world, working on projects, and caring about girls’ education.
