(The Post News)– Orlando Pirates managed to hold MC Alger to an advantage draw at Orlando Stadium in Soweto, Wednesday night, April 09. The two met for the second leg of the CAF Champions semi-final, where the Buccaneers were leading 1-0 on aggregate.
Pirates is the only team that was never beaten in the CAF Champions for 2025 as of yet. The second leg came with an advantage goal they scored in Algeria, when they were hosted by MC Alger. During the second leg match, hosted by Pirates, both teams had many changes that were not converted. While MC Alger had seven total shots and one on target, Pirates had only six with two shots on target. Additionally, Alger dominated the play while Pirates dominated the attack, with goalkeepers having to save only three shots on target for 90 minutes.
After the final whistle, MC Alger players and spectators became violent, attempting to assault match officials and Orlando Pirates players alike. Meanwhile, fans took on security officials on the grand stands and had to be called off by police with pepper spray.
Meanwhile, Stellenbosch FC also also pack out Zamalek at 1-0 after they held the Egyptians to a draw in Cape Town for the Confederation Cup quarter final. Stellenbosch is set to battle with Simba SC and RS Berkane with CS Constantine.
