(The Post News)- Kaizer Chiefs stunned Mamelodi Sundowns out of the Nedbank Cup semi-final, a 2-1 victory sent Amakhosi to the final on April 13 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium. Chiefs overturned a halftime deficit to book the cup final with their derby-rivals Orlando Pirates.
Teboho Mokoena registered himself on the score sheet, scoring a first goal at 45+ minutes. Giving Masandawana a head start and winning the first half with a brilliant free kick. The 57′ minute of the game Chief’s striker, Wandile Duba scored an equaliser taking advantage of Sundowns backline mistake to level the score line 1-1.
Ashley Du Preez scored a clinical goal at 89th minute with an assist from George Matlou, both coming in with a substitution. The win puts The Glamor Boys back to CAF Confederation.
They also get a first cup final appearance in six years. Sundowns’ hopes for treble shatters as they pack out of the Nedbank.
Nabi’s boys aim to reclaim their glory days and end the trophy drought. The final encounter is not easy for both the Soweto Giants. Pirates have been victorious since 2022 with Chiefs, will Nabi create another miracle?
