Atletic Madrid’s Double Win Streak to Challenge La Liga

(The Post News)- On Monday, April 14, Atletico Madrid defeated Real Villadolid 4-2 at Riyadh Air Metropolitano in Madrid, solidifying Real Villadolid’s 20th place. Mamadou Diallo, a striker for Villadolid, opened the goal with a penalty kick at minute 21.

Four minutes after Diallo’s lead, Julian Alvarez equalised the score with a penalty kick. Paulo Barrios assisted Giuliano Simeone’s amazing goal two minutes after Alvarez’s goal, extending the lead at the 25-minute mark. Atletico came back from behind to take a 2-1 lead before half-time.

According to Diego Simeone, coach of Atletico Madrid, he inspired Alvarez to assume leadership roles and demonstrate offensive prowess. At the post-interview game, the coach joked, “We tell him that Lewandowski has more goal.”

At 56′, Javi Sanchez deflected a free kick to bring Villadolid back into the match. Villadolid wanted to return to the league from 20th place, therefore it was an aggressive and determined night. And Atletico is in third place, chasing the league. At the 71st minute, Alvarez scored a penalty to tie the score once more.

At 79, Alexander Sorloth found himself with a straightforward shot that was sent beyond Andre Ferreira after he forced the ball from a strike to a keeper save. With Barcelona in first place, Real Madrid in second, and Atletico in third, Atletico is once again vying for the league title. The top three are separated by three points and have a significant goal differential.
