(The Post News)– The uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MK) has released a statement distancing itself from the recent visit of its Secretary General Floyd Shivambu to the Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) church in Malawi, led by the self-proclaimed and fugitive prophet Shepard Bushiri.
Meanwhile, the MK Party has claimed that Shivambu undertook the visit in his personal capacity and without the mandate or acknowledgement of the party. MK Party said that they uphold the rule of law and maintain a zero-tolerance stance on criminality in all its forms, citing that when the the former president Jacob Zuma was sent to prison “without trial, he did not flee from justice but was incarcerated and serve his time, even though it was a miscarriage of justice and violation of his human rights.”
The party also highlighted that they are firmly opposed to any associations with individuals who are fugitives from justice and rejects anything that compromise their ethical standing, adding that their values are rooted in integrity, justice and accountability.
Moreover, the MK Party stated that they condemn all forms of gender-based violence and the exploitation of vulnerable people “especially the innocent Christian believers” by individuals that are manipulating faith for their self gains or to invade justice. The Party encouraged its members to act in the manner that reflects the highest standards of responsibility and accountability.
