The promoted Leed United to English Premiership League is celebrating promotion from Championship.
The renowned Lucas Radebe has spoken out about being named Leeds United’s first international ambassador. Radebe, who played for Leeds from 1994 to 2005 while wearing the newly promoted team’s colours, has received numerous accolades for his contributions to the team.
The former Bafana Bafana captain, who has already received various forms of recognition, now enjoys the privilege of becoming the club’s first worldwide ambassador. “It’s a huge honour, in my opinion. It goes beyond who I am, what I have contributed to the club, and what the club stands for to be named the first worldwide amassaddor for such a magnificent club,” Radebe told media on Wednesday at a CAF event held in Sandton, Johannesburg.
Although Radebe’s exact responsibilities have not yet been disclosed, he anticipates representing the team across the globe and making sure that the next generation of Leeds players and fans hear the team’s story.
“We haven’t met yet to discuss my responsibilities, but it goes without saying that they include representing the team internationally, increasing support for the team, and sharing the club’s and the players’ stories. This team is deserving of a spot in the Premier League. Their goal is to increase the number of players throughout Europe and Africa,” he said.
