(The Post News)– The tension between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn took an unexpected turn on Thursday, as Eubank Jr ditched the usual pre-fight bravado to speak from the heart.

The press conference—set ahead of their much-anticipated bout this Saturday—saw the fighters sitting far apart, a physical reminder of the emotional and family-fuelled grudge that’s built up over the years. Their rivalry flared earlier this year when Eubank Jr cracked an egg on Benn, mocking Benn’s explanation for failing two drug tests in 2022, which canceled their original fight.

But this time, Eubank Jr focused less on Benn and more on his pain. Speaking reflectively, he shared that his relationship with his father, former boxing, Chris Eubank Sr, is fractured—and that the death of his brother, who is buried in Dubai, weighs heavily on him. He described real pain as watching his nephew grow up without a father, not cutting weight or fight prep.

Still, he didn’t let Benn off the hook entirely, pointing out his clean track record and unwavering dedication to boxing. Benn, keeping it brief, simply vowed to come for Eubank’s head, calling the upcoming fight every fighter’s dream.
