(The Post News)– Ryan Googler’s Sinners is more than just a horror film—it is a movement about Black American history and culture.
It has also been noted that the music within the film felt like another one of the characters. From Miles Caton’s character Sammie using his voice and guitar to communicate his aspirations to shape his identity outside of his father’s church, down to Delroy Lindo’s character Delta Slim, who expresses the pain of his friend’s lynching through song.
Coogler uses blues music to create a “cultural connection”. According to Coogler in IGN, it embraces the physicality and suffering associated with the circumstance.
After being in theaters for only three and a half weeks, the vampire psychological thriller and horror has grossed almost $250 million in ticket sales, making it the highest-grossing original since 2019.
