2 People Shot Dead at Daveyton Petrol Station During a Robbery

(The Post News)– Police officers continue to play high-stakes roles following a string of business robberies, as yet another armed robbery incident has been reported in the early hours of May 7, 2025, at an Engen Garage Petrol Station in Daveyton.

According to the police spokesperson of the Ekurhuleni district, Captain Nelda Sekgobela, several armed suspects abruptly entered the petrol station and demanded that one of the attendants open the kiosk’s primary entrance. The suspects then reportedly held the attendants hostage, pushing them to the ground before they used explosives to open up a money safe.

Caxton Network News reported that some of the suspects remained inside with the hostages, while the other suspects stood guard outside for any customers who arrived at the station.

Meanwhile, a car drove in, and the robbers demanded that the two people inside—a young man and woman—get out and lie on the ground.

Reports further state that the man in the car refused to get out and reversed the car, attempting to flee the scene, which resulted in open gunfire. He was declared dead at the scene, while the woman later succumbed to her injuries and died at the hospital.

No arrests have been made while the Daveyton Police Station continues to investigate the incident. The South African Police Service (SAPS) has asked anyone with information on the case to contact their nearest police station.
