(The Post News)– Cricket South Africa (CSA) has confirmed the appointment of Shukri Conrad as head coach of the Proteas Men’s team across all formats.
Conrad, who took charge of the Test side in January 2023, will now also lead the T20 and One-Day teams. His tenure in this expanded role begins with a T20 International tri-series against Zimbabwe and New Zealand in July and will continue through to the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, which South Africa will host. This move forms part of CSA’s broader strategy to unify leadership across formats and reintroduce a National Convenor of Selection.
CSA Director of National Teams and High Performance, Enoch Nkwe, praised Conrad’s impact on the Test squad, highlighting the identity and structure he’s established. Nkwe said Conrad’s familiarity with the players and international demands positions him well to take the team forward in white-ball cricket.
Conrad expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, describing it as a major milestone in his coaching career. He acknowledged the depth of white-ball talent in South Africa and is optimistic about building on the momentum already in place.
He stressed the importance of strategic planning, particularly with a busy schedule ahead, including next month’s ICC World Test Championship Final, the 2026 T20 World Cup, and the 2027 50-over World Cup.
Conrad’s immediate focus will be guiding South Africa in the Test Championship Final against Australia, set for 11–15 June at Lord’s in London.
