(The Post News)- The third day of Sean “Diddy” Combs’s federal trial saw more emotional and disturbing testimony from his former partner, singer Cassie Ventura, who outlined in detail the abuse she claims to have endured throughout their 11-year relationship.
Combs, 55, is facing multiple charges including sex trafficking, racketeering, and transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty to all counts.
Coercion and Control
Taking the stand for a second day, Ventura told jurors about being coerced into drug-fueled sex acts known as “freak-offs,” where she was forced to sleep with male escorts while Combs watched and filmed the encounters. According to Ventura, these acts were not only degrading but were used as tools of control and blackmail.“
He would threaten to release the videos if I ever left him,” Ventura testified. “He controlled my appearance, my communication, even the music I made.” Ventura said the psychological toll of the encounters led her to dissociate and caused recurring health issues.Incidents of ViolenceVentura also described repeated instances of physical abuse. She detailed a violent assault in a Los Angeles hotel in 2016, where Combs allegedly threw a glass vase at her and dragged her down a hallway by her hair. Surveillance footage of the hallway incident has been submitted into evidence.
In another account from 2013, Ventura said she was sent to a plastic surgeon after suffering injuries inflicted by Combs. She claimed she often used makeup and sunglasses to hide bruises while in public.
Alleged Rape and Threats
Perhaps most harrowing was Ventura’s account of a 2018 incident, where she alleged that Combs raped her after breaking into her apartment following their breakup. “He said he just wanted to talk,” she said. “Then he forced himself on me.”
Ventura also claimed Combs made threats against others. She testified that after he found out she had been romantically involved with rapper Kid Cudi, Combs allegedly said he would blow up Cudi’s car. Days later, she said, Cudi’s car exploded in his driveway. Cudi has not commented publicly on the incident.
Combs’s defence team is expected to begin cross-examination of Ventura on Thursday. So far, they have maintained that any sexual encounters were consensual and that Ventura’s allegations are exaggerated and financially motivated.
The trial has garnered significant media attention and is being closely watched as a potential turning point in how abuse allegations are handled in the music industry.
