(The Post News)- The family of medical intern, Alulutho Mazwi is in shock after learning about the treatment their son had allegedly been receiving at a hospital in KwaZulu-Natal, despite of his evident health problems. Those close to the Dr mentioned that he had been diagnosed with diabetes around last year, the year of 2024. The intern’s condition had seemed to be worsening during the last of his days, however, all this was allegedly ignored by his work superiors.
The family believes that their son was coerced to work even under unfavourable circumstances and that he and his other intern colleagues were ill treated.
The family is saddened by this tragic event as they express how shocked they are about his death is following not being allowed to take leave from work, despite his efforts. Vumani Mazwi, Alulutho’s uncle says “he was supposed to be admitted into hospital the Monday he passed on, however he pushed himself to go to work” .

Chairperson of the parliamentary portfolio committee on health Sibongiseni Dhlomo mentioned that an investigation has been initiated into the death of the intern in the paediatrics department at Oronce Mshiyeni Memorial hospital.
