(The Post News)– Jake Paul admits his upcoming fight against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr will be his toughest yet—but he’s confident he’ll dominate the former world champion.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer, now 11–1 with seven knockouts, has mostly faced MMA fighters and older boxing veterans like Mike Tyson. His bout with Tyson last year, streamed on Netflix, disappointed purists but pulled in a staggering 60 million viewers.
Paul is undeterred by Chavez Jr’s experience, saying the Mexican always folds under pressure and that he intends to push him to the limit until he gives up. He described Chavez as a skilled fighter and sees the match as a real test of his own progress.
Chavez Jr, who boasts a record of 54–6–1, dismissed Paul’s boxing résumé as unimpressive, saying the American hasn’t faced real competition. He enters the June 28 clash feeling re-energised and determined to teach Paul a lesson in the ring.
His father, boxing legend Julio Cesar Chavez Sr, backed his son to win, saying he’s never seen him train with such intensity. He firmly believes Paul stands no chance.
Fans are expected to rally behind Chavez Jr. “Jake Paul’s not a real boxer; he’s fake,” said Mark Solis, a local supporter. Others, like Gabriel Northway, think Paul’s disruptive style gives him an edge.
Analyst Bob Dorfman believes Paul’s polarising persona keeps audiences hooked, whether they tune in to support him or watch him lose.
