Theatre du Châtelet in Paris to host the 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony. Oliver Sports.
(The Post News)– The Ballon d’Or award ceremony is set for September 22 this year, and for the first time, men and women will receive an equal number of awards, organisers announced on Monday.
In a significant step towards gender equality in football recognition, new categories have been introduced for women: best goalkeeper, best young player, and top scorer in either club or international competitions. The ceremony will once again be held at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, according to France Football magazine and UEFA.
This update brings the total to six awards for men and six for women. The Socrates Award, which honours social impact and is open to all genders, remains an additional prize.
Nominees for all categories will be revealed in early August. Last year’s event was marred by controversy when Real Madrid chose not to attend after learning that Vinicius Junior had been overlooked for the best men’s player title, which ultimately went to Manchester City’s Rodri.
