(The Post News)- An active manhunt is being carried out in the Eastern Cape after a Lusikisiki man and his wife were brutally murdered in their home on Wednesday evening, May 21.
According to local authorities in the Eastern Cape, the altercation between the couple and intruders unfolded around 8 p.m. at the spouse’s home in Dick locality, Lusikisiki.
It is alleged that the two armed intruders made their way into the home with the husband when he arrived from work. Lieutenant Colonel Siphokazi Mawisa, the police spokesperson in Lusikisiki, says information from police reports suggests that the armed intruders, who wore balaclava masks, “held the husband at gunpoint” as he was exiting his vehicle. As they stepped inside the home, the gunmen demanded to see the wife. Hearing the altercation from the bedroom, she stepped out into the room, and the gunmen “fired shots at her and her husband.”
The husband and wife, aged 39 and 41, succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. Their domestic worker, who was allegedly present during the incident, remained unharmed.
The investigation is still ongoing, and police officers have asked anyone with information related to the double homicide to contact Lieutenant Colonel Siyabulela Kufa, the Lusikisiki Detective’s Head, or call their nearest police station.
