A 28-year-old man from the area was arrested in Durban after allegedly raping four girls at the school. However, in a shocking turn of events, the suspect managed to escape from police cells while being assisted by officers.
Minister Hlomuka assured the victims and the community that the department would provide counseling to the affected girls. He further asserted that they remain committed to giving the learners the support they require during these trying times.
In a significant development, the suspect was rearrested yesterday, hiding at the Dalton Hostel in Durban. He is expected to appear in court today.
