(The Post News)– Lando Norris’ triumphant win at the Monaco Grand Prix has been credited to a mental reset, according to McLaren boss Zak Brown.
The British driver delivered a commanding performance on Sunday, claiming his second win of the season after opening the year with victory in Australia. The result narrows the gap between him and teammate Oscar Piastri to just three points in the championship standings after eight races.
Brown pointed to a change in Norris’s approach, saying the 24-year-old had stopped obsessing over perfection, especially in qualifying. Instead, he focused on doing his best in the moment—an adjustment that paid off in Monte Carlo.
After recent struggles in Q3, Norris secured pole with a record-breaking lap and backed it up with a composed drive on race day. Notably, his post-qualifying mood was calmer than usual, more in line with Piastri’s steady demeanour.
Brown said helping Norris silence his inner critic was key: “Just do your best and try again if it’s not perfect.” That attitude helped both McLaren drivers deliver strong qualifying laps—Norris just happened to nail his second one. Now, the title fight is well and truly alive.
