Police are looking for a Polo VW driver who allegedly murdered Olorato Mongale on their first date.
(The Post News)– The Gauteng police are on a manhunt for the driver of a white VW Polo using the pseudonym John after he was last seen with the 30-year-old Wits student.
According to the police, the suspect fetched Mongale from her residential complex in Athol, then drove through Alexandra and Kew, where some of her belongings—including her phone and handbag—were later found abandoned on 9th Road.
Between Alexandra and Lombardy West, the man allegedly murdered Mongale and dumped her body. Her remains were discovered around 4:50pm, not more than 2 hours later.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe confirmed that the police are also investigating whether Mongale’s murder is connected to a similar case earlier this month, where a 39-year-old woman was found dead in Sandown, Sandton, on 8 May. Mathe urged that while authorities investigate the Mongale case and other gender-based violence and femicide incidents, ladies should be extra watchful for this VW Polo.
