14 year-old Likhona Fose found dead after going missing on Saturday.
(The Post News)- A 14 year-old girl Likhona Fose, found dead after going missing on Saturday, 31 May. Her body was found by a passerby, who alerted the community of the body and the community confirmed to have seen a body of a girl.
One of the community residents described what she saw when she got to the scene as horrific, ” It was scary, it seemed like something was removed from her private part, we covered her with pants we saw next to her.”
Likhona’s uncle who was one of the first family members on the scene spoke to Newzroom Afrika journalist Mqobile Madlala, the uncle said on arrival they asked the people who were already at the scene to pass to be able to identify the body, the community and police who were at the scene allowed them and it was then that they identified the body to be Likhona.
“She was undressed on the bottom half, we don’t know if she was raped but she looked bruised in some areas.”
Likhona left her home Saturday evening, the uncle who was not at Roodepoort at the time recieved a call from Likhona’s grandmother around 14:00 today to check if she had come back, “I checked at home, the children said they had last saw her yesterday she hasn’t returned, ” the uncle said
Broadening their search he together with a neighbor went looking for her, they asked some boys she used to hangout with but they hinted that she was seen by another boy. Believing that she will surely return home because she has exams Monday they halted their search, until a message on the community WhatsApp group alerted the community of a girl being found dead.
Likhona stayed with her grandmother, she is very hurt about her death. She has buried her daughters before but they didn’t die like Likhona.
The family wants the law to play its part and the perpetrators to be arrested.
One of her cousins said they as the family they are not coping ” Likhona never listened, she liked being outside at night but not to die like this, it is painful, very painful.”
“The community is still shock”, a community leader expressed. He said as the community they need to stand-up as they also have children. He pleaded with the police to assist them and bring those who committed this crime to justice.
