(The Post News)- Yesterday South Korea’s national election commission data determined that “with 100% of the ballots counted, Lee Jae-myung won 49.42% of the nearly 35-million votes cast while conservative rival Kim Moon-soo took 41.15%”.
One day into his presidential win Lee has has pledged to lift the country out of the devised political turmoil caused by a martial law crisis and to revitalize the struggling economy .
“The top priority is to decisively defeat the insurrection and guarantee that never again will weapons be turned against the people in a military coup,” Lee declared in his victory speech outside parliament.
He added “Together, with the collective strength and remarkable resilience of our people, we can rise above this temporary crisis”
As Lee Jae-myung steps into office, all eyes are on how he will navigate a nation still reeling from political unrest and economic uncertainty.
