(The Post News)– The remains of Sibusiso Aserie Ndlovu and Zodwa Mdluli, the missing journalist and his partner, who were last seen in their home in Pretoria on February 18, 2025, have been positively identified by the South African Police Service (SAPS).
Their remains were found in Rust de Winter, Limpopo, more than a month ago, showing signs of gunshot wounds.
Authorities discovered the remains of the couple in the wooded area in May, after the community assisted Crime Intelligence detectives and officers, together with the Cyber Crime unit working the case to track down two of the suspects who were involved in Ndlovu and Mdluli’s disappearance. The two suspects, 43-year-old Sello Wani and 24-year-old Thato Madisha, were arrested last month by police officers after they were spotted in their hideout close to where the remains were located.
On the 3rd of June, Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, the National Police Spokesperson, confirmed that the DNA of the remains matched those of Ndlovu and Mdluli by referencing the DNA samples that were taken from the couple’s biological relatives.
Seven suspects have since been arrested on charges of unlawful possession of stolen goods, kidnapping, and house robbery. These items include home essentials that were taken from the couple’s home, as well as parts of Ndlovu’s stolen vehicle that were fitted into two VW Citi Golfs recovered by the police officers.
The suspects have been reported to be currently appearing in the Magistrate’s Court in KwaMhlanga, Mpumalanga. Spokesperson Mathe says that the police are honoured and grateful to have “provided closure” to the Ndlovu and Mdluli families.
Ndlovu’s mother, Lindah Shabangu, told SABC News in May that she wants to see every one of the suspects behind bars because of ‘what they did to her son’.
