(The Post News)– Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has dismissed recent calls for “Black unity” among political parties, describing them as a “disingenuous” and veiled attempt to destabilise his party rather than a sincere push for solidarity.
Speaking outside the home of late actor Presley Chweneyagae in Pretoria, Malema questioned the selective targeting of the EFF in these unity appeals, particularly from African Congress for Transformation (ACT) leader Ace Magashule and other political figures.
He further questioned why the “Black unity” among parties is “directed” toward his party, noting that parties never raised concerns about the African National Congress (ANC) or the Patriotic Alliance refusing to “unite with them”—it is always the EFF, and they will not tolerate that.
He highlighted the irony and hypocrisy in these political leaders who call for Black unity by saying, “It is disingenuous to form another party and then say you’re calling for Black unity.” He added that establishing a party divides people, and if the parties were serious about “unity”, they would have joined the EFF and not established their own parties.
Malema reaffirmed that the EFF is still committed to Black unity; however, he insists that “they will not fall into the trap,” he said. “We know who we are, and we know what we stand for.”
