(The Post News)- South African football tactician Rhulani Mokwena is reportedly in advanced negotiations to become the next head coach of Egyptian club Pyramids FC, following the departure of Croatian manager Krunoslav Jurčić.
Mokwena, 38, has garnered attention for his impressive coaching credentials, including leading Mamelodi Sundowns to multiple domestic titles and the inaugural African Football League (AFL) championship. His tenure at Sundowns was marked by a remarkable 53-match unbeaten league run and a win rate exceeding 60% across all competitions.
Pyramids FC, which clinched the CAF Champions League title by defeating Sundowns in Cairo, is seeking a new manager after Jurčić’s rumored exit. Mokwena’s name has emerged as a leading candidate, with sources suggesting that club officials are impressed by his track record and are working to secure his services.
Should the move materialize, Mokwena would join a growing list of South African coaches making their mark in African football. His potential appointment at Pyramids FC underscores the increasing recognition of South African managerial talent on the continental stage.
