Elon Musk, owner of X, announced XChat, a new encrypted messaging and calling feature. It will start rolling out on X this week and includes options like vanishing messages and sending any kind of file. This new feature is seen as a possible competitor to WhatsApp.
(The Post News)- Tech Billionaire Elon Musk has introduced XChat, a new secure messaging feature. It’s meant to offer an alternative to apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, and Signal. This is part of his bigger plan to turn X (formerly Twitter) into a more complete digital platform.
In a social media post Musk said, “All new XChat is rolling out with encryption, vanishing messages, and the ability to send any kind of file.”
App researcher Nima Owji shared screenshots on X with the caption, “Let’s take a look at X’s upcoming messenger ‘XChat’!” The images suggest support for advanced group chats and a “vanishing mode,” hinting at more private communication features coming soon.
X had introduced encrypted messaging for paid users back in 2023 but paused the feature last week for improvements possibly to get ready for the launch of XChat.
The move toward private and secure messaging comes as Musk continues to reshape X into more than just a place for viral posts and trending conversations. He has openly shared his goal of turning X into an “everything app.”
